BMW Motorrad now brings the concept of Electric Sports Bike called eRR. Thanks to its electric power, the bike offers the power of Supersport with zero emission at the same time.
BMW Motorrad is known for pointing out the new ways for the betterment of the two-wheeled industry. Following the same, the company has always tried to present the future technologies. This time, the German motorcycle maker has created a concept of an electric vehicle called eRR, created as a project with the Technical University of Munich, expressing the idea of an electric powered motorcycle made by BMW Motorrad.
Few years back, BMW presented the ‘i’ series that showed the company’s visionary and sustainable approach and their revolutionary design principles, which proved zero emission, riding fun and practicability.
With presenting the experimental vehicle eRR, BMW Motorrad goes one step ahead and shows the possibilities of an all-electric drive in a supersport motorcycle. In terms of design and chassis technology, the eRR is inspired from their supersport motorcycle S 1000, but using an all electric drive.
While showcasing the vehicle, Stephan Schaller, Head of BMW Motorrad, said, “Since their market launch, the RR is giving the creeps to motorsport athletes. If acceleration, handling or top speed – the RR is setting standards. However, if acceleration on the first metres, up to 50, 60 kph, is the point, the RR's 199 bhp have to admit defeat by another BMW product: the C evolution with its electric drive.
We asked ourselves: What happens when combining a sports motorcycle and an electric drive? The experimental vehicle eRR brings the topic zero-emission and electric drive on a new, more fascinating level."
We need to wait to see, how much time, the company will take to bring it on road.
