BMW records robust growth, BMW R 1200GS leads the brand

BMW Motorrad, the German based bike manufacturer, has recorded robust sales in 2010. The sales of the BMW bikes is growing with unexpected rate and achieving records in the market. The UK and Korean market sales reports are enough to present it's overwhelming response in the markets.
In the UK, BMW Motorrad registered sales of 6703 bikes in the year 2010, reported by Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA). This year sales rose 12.2 per cent which is in continuation of previous four years. BMW bikes market share has become almost double from 5.9 per cent in 2007 to 10.2 per cent in the year of 2010.
The company sold 2,420 BMW R 1200GS bikes, it has also become the best selling BMW bike in 2010. The market share of the BMW R 1200 GS increased to 26 per cent while BMW R 1200 RT and BMW K 1300 GT were the two best-selling bikes in the Touring segment that accounts for 37.5 per cent market share. The BMW 1200 RT got 27.5 per cent growth in the touring bike segment in 2010.
On the other hand, BMW bike are doing well in Korean market. BMW Korea has announced the top 5 best selling bikes in the country that includes only bikes above 500cc. 129 units of BMW S 1000R have been sold out in 2010 while BMW R1200GS bought by 102 customers; 83 units of BMW R1200RT's has been sold out there as well. The BMW bikes are getting buzz response from market.
This German giant has also announced to come in India with BMW R 1200GS, BMW S 1000RR and BMW K1300S. BMW K 1300R, BMW K 1600 GT and BMW K 1300 GT. These bikes are expected to come here in April, 2011.
