BMW displayed the third-generation of its superbike BMW S 1000 RR which is offering more agility and increased power. It comes across a beautiful vehicle with razor sharp flyline and perfectly balanced volume of the contours and shapes. The symmetry of the bike has been given emphasis in the new model and every trim component has been redesigned - including the headlamp element.

The S1000RR is available in India and has revolutionised the super sports class when it first came out in 2009. Now the next generation model is powered by 1.0-litre engine that generates 198 hp of maximum power at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm and it is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This new S 1000 RR has an output of 6 hp more than its predecessor. Along with higher rated output, its lighter design makes the Double R faster and agiler. Weighing in at 204 kg including ABS and traction control, it is some 4 kilos lighter than the previous version. To make it more efficient, this bike has a newly designed exhaust system without front silencer as well as a new engine set-up for increased torque, an improved output curve and many other optimised details.

The S 1000 RR is significantly different from the predecessor as it features major changes in design and performance along with primary the technical details. The new electronic suspension set up ensures greatly improved traction as well as better feedback to the rider. Optimised propulsion is enabled by such features as the Shift Assistant Pro (shifting up and down without clutch) and the e-gas throttle actuator for more precise and direct control. The rider operates these new features via the newly designed instrument panel which can be adapted to the specific type of use.

So at the auto expo, we saw a superbike which is all set the benchmark in its class and is truly a double R vehicle ready to take on models like Aprilia RSV4R, Ducati 1199 Panigale/Panigale R, Suzuki GSX-R1000 to name a few.Stay tuned with BikeDekho as we keep bringing you live updated from the one of the biggest auto-carnival.
