Sporty ADV: BMW S 1000 XR Makes Indian Premiere at Auto Expo

German motorcycle maker, BMW Motorrad has showcased its highly anticipated 999cc adventure sports motorcycle, the BMW S 1000 XR, which means we have to wait for some more time see it running on Indian roads. With S 1000 XR, BMW is looking to expand its ‘S’ range of motorcycles. This will be the fourth motorcycle in the ‘S’ fleet after, the S 1000, HP4 and S 1000R and will give tough competition to Ducati Multistrada.
The BMW S range of motorcycles is known for their highly powerful 4 cylinder engines and sports biased performance. The BMW S 1000 XR will be part of the ‘Adventure Sports’ category with more advanced features and safety. Its 999cc inline four-cylinder mill is capable enough to churn out 158bhp of power along with the peak torque of 112Nm. Other features of the motorcycle include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). This adventure sports motorcycle comes with two riding modes, rain and road.
BMW Motorrad entered the Indian two-wheeler market in November 2010. By June 2012, the automaker sold 117 units in India. Currently, Navnit motors imports BMW motorcycles in India. The company is known for producing powerful machines with advanced technology. So far, the German giant has made its presence felt in the Indian automotive world and the year 2016 will be no exception.
