The made-in-India G 310 R will be exported to Europe, Australia and other Asian countries as well

With its India launch drawing near, BMW Motorrad has started the production of its small displacement G 310 R motorcycle at TVS Motors' facility in Hosur (near Bangalore). The G 310 R is BMW's smallest capacity motorcycle in recent history and the bike, which will be made in India, will also be exported to European, Australian and other Asian markets.

BMW Motorrad and TVS Motors formed a joint venture a few years ago and the G 310 R is the first product of the same. As a result of the joint venture, we can expect more small displacement motorcycles from BMW and TVS motors. The G 310 R was showcased in Brazil as a stunt concept and officially revealed at EICMA 2015. The motorcycle been spotted testing in India quite a few times. It packs a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which puts out maximum power of 34PS and maximum torque of 28Nm torque. The G 310 R makes use of a six-speed gearbox.

The photos of the G 310 R reveal the bike to be having a short wheelbase. The bike will come with features like upside-down forks up front, monoshock suspension at back, fully-digital instrumentation, LED turn indicators and 17-inch alloys shod with Metzeler tyres. Once launched, the G310R will rival bikes like the KTM 390 Duke, Mahindra Mojo and Benelli TNT 300. Expect it to be priced closer to the KTM 390 Duke upon launch.
