The Rocket 3 is powered by a 2500cc inline three-cylinder engine!
If you have seen the images of the new Triumph Rocket 3, you know it’s a big, brawny motorcycle. To move this near-300-kg beast you need more than a bit of muscle. So it shouldn’t surprise you when we say that Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal has bought one to suit his macho personality. The torque monster from Triumph is priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
Compared to the older model, Triumph has basically changed the entire motorcycle from the ground up. The displacement of the motor has gone up from 2300cc to 2500cc and it now delivers 167PS at 6000rpm and 221Nm at 4000rpm. Despite that, the new-gen engine is a whopping 18kg lighter.
At around 300kg, it is still a heavy motorcycle. It comes equipped with an all-new aluminium frame and an adjustable Showa USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware consists of twin 320mm front discs and a 300mm rear disc with Brembo M4.32 calipers.
There are a bunch of electronic goodies on board helping this beast stick to the tarmac. It gets ride-by-wire, an IMU-based cornering traction control and ABS, four riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport and Rider-configurable), hill hold assist and cruise control.
In terms of competition, the Rocket 3 goes up against the new Ducati Diavel 1260, which retails for Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). We have done a detailed story on the mad Triumph, which you can read here.
