Now the Perak comes with forward set footpegs, re-tuned rear suspension and reduced engine performance. The 42 Bobber is now more affordable
Jawa has launched the 2024 Jawa Perak and 2024 Jawa 42 Bobber in India. Now the Jawa Perak gets a new dual-tone colour scheme and a few changes to its performance and underpinnings. Whereas the 42 Bobber gets 2 new variants: Mystic Copper and Jasper Red Dual Tone both with diamond cut alloy wheels straight from the factory.
The new dual-tone colour variant of the Perak comes at Rs 2,13,187 (ex-showroom Delhi) , same price as the present Perak and it features a brass finished tank badging with ‘Perak’ written on it, instead of ‘Jawa’ like we have seen on the current variant. Additionally, it gets a quilted tan seat that captures the retro look quite well, apart from improving the comfort.
Jawa has brought a few other important changes to the bike such as new repositioned footpegs which have been forward-set by 155mm like the 42 Bobber, and a re-tuned monoshock. The 7-step preload adjustable monoshock has been tuned for better damping. This is a welcome addition as the Perak felt a bit cramped for taller riders in the past and the suspension setup was also towards the firmer side.
Additionally, the manufacturer has also tweaked the engine performance and now the 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor produces 29.9PS at 7500rpm and 30Nm at 5500rpm. For perspective, the engine used to make 30.64PS and 32.74Nm earlier, so it now makes 0.74PS and 2.74Nm less.
What would've made the 2024 Perak even better is an updated instrument cluster. The current one has issues with readability under direct sunlight, and the small digital inset that only shows the odometer readings. A better positioned console with more information in the digital inset would have been welcome.
In the Modern Classic lineup, Jawa has introduced two new alloy wheel variants of the 42 Bobber: Mystic Copper Alloy Wheel and Jasper Red Dual Tone Alloy Wheel. Additionally the pricing has been revised across the lineup and now the base variant of the bike is more affordable than ever. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the prices:

Other than the introduction of these new variants, Jawa has not made any changes to the Jawa 42 Bobber. The bike is still powered by the same 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine that produces 29.9PS and 30Nm.

The alloy wheels are a fine addition and will make the bike more accessible to people, but where Jawa could have also focused on was improving the engine refinement and also improved the instrument console for better readability.
The Jawa 42 Bobber and Perak don’t have natural rivals as they are the only bobbers in the market. The closest alternatives to both are the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda CB350, Yezdi Roadster and the Keeway V302C.
