Bridgestone Planning an Entry in Indian Two-Wheeler Market

Bridgestone, one of the most popular tyre manufacturers in the world is planning to bring its products to the Indian two-wheeler market. After being successful in the country for four-wheelers, the Japanese brand is looking forward to further increase its presence by reaching out to the most selling vehicles of the country. As a part of their expansion strategy in the country, Bridgestone is planning to increase their number of outlets from 400 to 500 by the end of 2016.

The company recently unveiled its two tyre ranges, EP150 and EP850 under the Ecopia range. Bridgestone is claiming that EP150 and EP850 tyres will increase the fuel efficiency by 7% and 10% respectively. EP150 tyres will be used in passenger cars like Swift and Amaze, whereas, SUVs like Scorpio and Fortuner will get EP850 tyres. Bridgestone is also looking to offer Ecopia range for TBR (truck bus radials) segment next year.

Talking about Bridgestone’s entry in the Indian two-wheeler market, Kazuhiko Mimura, Managing Director, Bridgestone India told the reporters, "We are aggressively looking to get into the two-wheeler tyre segment in India though nothing is finalised as yet. We are in the initial planning phase right now." On this new range of tyres rolled out by the company, he said, "Through Ecopia's fuel efficiency, Bridgestone can contribute towards the reduction of CO2 emissions in India while enabling Indian drivers to achieve fuel savings."
