Royal Enfield has removed both motorcycles from the bookings section of its website

  • Select dealers might still have the BS4 models in stock.
  • Sales of both motorcycles have been quite poor of late.
  • There’s no news if RE will update these motorcycles to meet the new emission norms.

Royal Enfield dealers in the country have stopped taking bookings for the BS4 variants of the Bullet 500 and Thunderbird 500. However, some dealers may have a couple of unsold units in case you are looking to grab one. Is Royal Enfield going to replace them with their BS6-compliant models? Well, there’s no official confirmation yet, but select dealers have said that the brand could bring the BS6-compliant versions of the 500cc bikes soon.

Compared to their 350cc counterparts, the Bullet 500 and the TBird 500 were never chartbusters. In fact, RE sold less than 200 units of both motorcycles combined in the month of October. The poor sales figures do make us wonder if Royal Enfield will continue to offer these 500cc modelS. If it does discontinue these models, then there would be a huge gap in RE’s lineup. So, will we see a new motorcycle from the bike maker that will bridge the gap between the 350cc and the 650cc? Only time will tell.

Royal Enfield has already started its BS6 innings in India with the updated Classic 350. And it hasn’t received the kind of update we were expecting. Apart from new paint options and some mechanical tweaks, the motorcycle remains the same as the BS4 model.
