The massive price cut has helped revive sales
When BMW launched the G 310 twins in India, the pricing of the duo shocked everyone. Despite being decent bikes, the asking price was too high even for a BMW badge and as expected, their sales never took off. The German brand rectified its mistake with the launch of the 2020 BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS BS6 variants with updated styling and a massive price cut. The G 310 R and the G 310 GS are priced at Rs 2.45 lakh and Rs 2.85 lakh respectively, ex-showroom Delhi. That is a massive price reduction for both motorcycles with the R now Rs 54,000 cheaper and the GS priced Rs 64,000 lower than the BS4 model.

Given the massive price cut, buyers are showing more interest in the baby Beemers with BMW recording over 1,000 bookings for the duo within a month of their launch. Is this initial euphoria or will BMW be able to maintain this sales momentum? That’s something time will tell but we are sure BMW Motorrad dealers in India are rejoicing. While the German brand has addressed the pricing aspect, another issue is the high service cost. We are hoping BMW reduces the service cost to make owning and maintaining the bikes more affordable.

Cosmetic updates on the BMW G 310 BS6 twins include the addition of a LED headlight and LED turn indicators. BMW designers have also redesigned the tank panel of the G 310 R and both bikes receive adjustable brake and clutch levers. The bikes are powered by the same 313cc single-cylinder motor as seen on its predecessor. The BS6-compliant engine still dishes out the same 34PS and 28Nm as before.
