The upcoming bike has been teased on Hero’s official website
- It’s the only full-faired motorcycle in Hero’s current portfolio.
- Gets features such as navigation and call alerts.
- The bike is based on the Xtreme 200R which is likely to be discontinued.
Hero MotoCorp has been busy this pandemic ensuring its motorcycles meet the new BS6 emission norms. India’s largest two-wheeler brand has managed to upgrade its entire portfolio to meet the new emission norms, barring two motorcycles from its 200cc range: Xtreme 200S and the XPulse 200T. It has now updated its website indicating the Hero Xtreme 200S BS6 version will be launched soon.
The Hero Xtreme 200S is the only full-faired bike in its entire lineup. Recently, Hero also gave the XPulse 200 the BS6 treatment and the new bike carried a premium of Rs 7,000 over the BS4 version. We expect a similar price hike for the BS6 Hero Xtreme 200S which could cost between Rs 1.10 and 1.20 lakh. Another interesting development could be that Hero might discontinue the Xtreme 200R as the new Xtreme 160R retails at the same price point. This could be a real possibility as the Xtreme 200R is missing even as an upcoming bike on the Hero India website.

Coming back to the Hero Xtreme 200S, the bike is powered by a 199.6cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor producing 18.4PS at 8000rpm and 17.1Nm at 6500rpm in its BS4 avatar. We expect the BS6 engine to be marginally down on power. It will continue to feature a 5-speed gearbox. It gets goodies such as an LED headlamp and LED tail light, all-digital instrument console with a gear position indicator, and Bluetooth-enabled turn-by-turn navigation alongwith call alerts.
The 2020 Hero Xtreme 200S is expected to be launched later this week or by the first half of August. It will compete against the Suzuki GIxxer SF which is priced at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
