What are the merits and demerits of buying the updated flagship TVS supersport?
TVS has made a significant improvement with the Apache RR 310 BS6. The supersport received a host of changes that have made it a better motorcycle than the outgoing model. So, what are the strong points of the new bike and where does it still falter?

PROS:
Electronic aids
The inclusion of ride-by-wire has been one of the biggest changes on the new faired Apache. TVS claims that even though it has changed a few engine internals, the electronics have helped in subsiding those harsh vibrations that plagued the older bike. Plus, you can now control how much power and ABS intervention you want as there are four rider modes to play with.
Grippy rubber
TVS has stuck with tyre manufacturer Michelin to provide tyres for the RR 310. But for the BS6 bike, it now comes shod with grippy Road 5 tyres and not the Pilot Sport like earlier. The new tyres are extremely communicative, unfazed in wet conditions and help the bike stop nearly 6m earlier than the older one from 80kmph.
Still looks stunning
The RR 310 is one of the best looking motorcycles made in India. Despite being over three years old, the shark-inspired styling with its predator look gives it a mean stance. The new dual-tone matte grey/gloss black colour scheme works quite well with the exposed red steel trellis frame adding to the visual delight. You also get the red colour as before, which looks equally as stunning.
CONS:
Lack of brake feel
Even though the BS6 bike manages to decelerate better than the older bike, the lack of brake feel is still a bother. The feeling isn’t wooden but you would appreciate lever feedback especially in tight scenarios.
Pillion comfort
One does not expect a supersport to be quite as comfortable to ride as the RR 310 but sadly the same level of comfort doesn’t translate back to the pillion. There are no changes to the subframe and hence the pillion is perched quite high. The pillion footrests are equally on the higher side, leading to slight cramping.
Should You Buy One?
One hundred per cent. The TVS Apache RR 310 has improved on all fronts and proves to be a worthy package in the sub-400cc supersport class. It might not be the quickest motorcycle in the segment but it is easily one that will serve you well in all of your tarmac-based riding ventures.
