The circular unit is deceptively modern
Yet another spy shot of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has surfaced on the internet and this time around, we get a clear look at its TFT console. This is the first time that we are seeing the console switched on.
The console itself is very retro-futuristic. While the overall shape and layout looks very retro with the big analogue-style tachometer, it is a TFT unit that packs information like a digital speedometer, tripmeter, odometer, and a gear position indicator.
Unfortunately, this image doesn’t show the bottom part of the screen which appears to house more information. It could likely be the fuel gauge and engine temperature bar. What remains a mystery is the inclusion of turn-by-turn navigation. Going by the image, the console doesn’t seem to have room for navigation.

Look closely and you will see that the Himalayan 450 also gets the rotary style switches like the other Royal Enfield products. The left switchgear has a rotary switch for low beam, high beam and pass switch, and right under that is the indicator toggle. This means that the menu can be toggled through a button where usually the pass switch is located, just like on other Royal Enfield bikes. So, the lack of a switch cube raises doubts on a feature-packed console. However, we’ll reserve our judgement till we get more information.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is now pretty much production-ready and could debut later this year at an ex-showroom price of around Rs 2.80 lakh. And with the KTM 390 Adventure SW in the picture, things will be all the more interesting for ADV lovers.
