Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say. And Royal Enfield owners really abide by this saying. One really needs to appreciate the effort some of them put in to infuse the persona of Harley-Davidson’s cruisers into their own bikes. What you are looking at here is another fine example of a modified Royal Enfield Classic 350. In India, the entry-level Harley-Davidson - the Street 750 - costs Rs 5.33 lakh (ex-showroom). But this custom job can be yours for just Rs 95,000 over and above the cost of the standard Classic 350! So let’s dig into the details, shall we?
In terms of design, this Classic 350 gets custom silver paint on the body and a special heat resistant matte black paint on the engine. It also gets a new peanut fuel tank that mimics the ones seen on the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight. Other additions include all LED-DRLs, handlebars with bar-end mirrors, new alloy wheels, a redesigned speedometer and twin exhaust pipes.
Mechanically, it retains most of the Classic 350’s standard bits. Powering this custom RE is the same 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that you’ll find in the standard model. Even the suspension setup remains the same -- telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. However, the owner has equipped the bike with fat 170mm tyres on both ends to give this custom Classic 350 the look and feel of a bobber. Overall, we think it’s a pretty neat job.
