Suzuki Gixxer 250 or GSX-R250, spy images of which recently surfaced on the internet, is finally making its way to Indian shores soon. If some reports are to be believed, the bike will receive its India reveal at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo and sales will commence by mid-2016. The bike was spotted at a facility in Japan in a production-ready state and seems to share its design philosophy with its elder sibling - GSX-R750.
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be powered by a 250cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The motor is expected to generate power somewhere between 26-28bhp with an approximate 23-25Nm of torque. The suspension setup seems to have been slightly revised with the same telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
The upcoming Gixxer may arrive with the same 100/80 front and 140/60 rear tyres that the 155cc SF comes shod with. However, our friends at GaadiWaadi have reported that the Gixxer 250 will sport a 110 section front tyre instead. For more responsive braking on the quarter-litre bike, the manufacturer might equip it with dual disc brakes along with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as an option.
The aesthetics have been improved to a great extent and the new Gixxer will come with a bigger and sharper headlamp design as well as a redesigned fuel tank. The bike also boasts of sporty split-step-up seats and clip-on handlebars that are absent in its younger stablemate. The clutch and brake levers are now chrome-plated to give a premium feel. The front windshield has been made slightly taller to add some more sportiness to the package.
Once launched, the Gixxer 250 will primarily compete with Honda CBR 250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli TNT 25 and the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 200. The manufacturer may price it very competitively and the bike is expected to arrive with a price of somewhere around Rs. 1.5 lac. As per speculations, Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be available in four colours - Red, Black, Blue and White.
