Here are some of the mile-munching contenders of 2021
Cruiser bikes segment isn't huge in India, but these bikes are known for the comfort that they provide over longer journeys. So if you're planning a long highway ride in 2022, here are a few options that you can consider.
Indian Chief 2021
Indian Motorcycles has launched the 2022 Chief lineup for the Indian market. The range comprises the Chief Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse, and the Super Chief Limited. These cruiser motorcycles come to India via the CBU route, and the prices start at Rs 20,75,992 (ex-showroom Delhi). All three motorcycles come loaded with features and are powered by a 1890cc Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine that produces 162Nm.
BMW R18
In 2020, BMW launched its premium cruiser motorcycle, the R18, in two variants, which then received a new tour-friendly (Classic) variant at the beginning of 2021. The R18 is available in a total of three variants, with prices starting at Rs 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The BMW R18 gets a host of features such as LED headlight, keyless ignition, a full colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation assist, a USB charging port, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), dual-channel ABS and is powered by a 1802cc boxer twin that churns out 91.1PS and 158Nm.
Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster
In the first quarter of 2021, Triumph bestowed the Bonneville Speedmaster with a few mechanical and cosmetic updates. On the mechanical front, the cruiser is now powered by a 1200cc parallel-twin, 8-valve, liquid-cooled High Torque engine that delivers 78PS and 106Nm. Besides, the underpinnings include a 47mm Showa cartridge fork and dual twin-piston Brembo front floating calipers. Meanwhile, the Bonneville Speedmaster has also received three new colour options: Red Hopper, Fusion White/Sapphire Black, and Jet Black.
Ducati Diavel 1260 BS6 & XDiavel
In 2021, Ducati launched the Diavel 1260 BS6 and the XDiavel at a price tag of Rs 18.49 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The Diavel 1260’s 1262cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine is now BS6-complaint, and makes 164.2PS and 129Nm. Meanwhile, the XDiavel has received subtle styling changes and a major mechanical update. The XDiavel draws power from the same 1262cc motor. However, here it puts out 160PS, which is 8PS more than before.
Benelli 502C
The 502C is Benelli's first twin-cylinder cruiser for the Indian market. The motorcycle is available in two colour options (Red and Black), priced at Rs 5,15,900 and 5,25,900 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The 502C gets all-LED lights, a fully digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, 17-inch alloys wrapped with Pirelli Angel GT tyres, and a 500cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that produces 47.5PS and 46Nm.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Touring
After being spotted testing a few times, Bajaj finally launched the Dominar 400 with a factory-fitted touring kit. This new variant is priced at Rs 2,16,648 (ex-showroom Delhi), and is offered with accessories such as a taller visor, handguards, an underbelly pan, a metal bash plate, a pillion backrest, a rear luggage rack, a navigation mount and a USB charging port.
