After facing technical issues during the fourth stage of the ongoing Dakar 2016, CS Santosh is now out of the rally. The navigation tower on Santosh’s bike is broken and the electricals are also shot, owing to which he was left with no option but to not proceed further in the world’s most dangerous off-road rally event. Santosh was riding a Suzuki 450 Rally motorcycle.
Earlier in Dakar 2016, Santosh went from 127th position in stage two and climbed up to 97th spot. In the next stage, he improved his standing further and managed to clinch 61st position, standing 79th overall. Trouble began for him during the fourth stage, and he was 2 hours 45 minutes behind the stage leader when the special stage was concluded. Santosh was left with a broken navigation tower and shot electricals and, with no mechanics allowed, he couldn’t move ahead in the competition.
Earlier, Santosh had already stated that he was having problems with the team Suzuki Rally Spain 450 that he was piloting after Stage 2. CS Santosh made India proud by being the only Indian to compete and complete the Dakar Rally last year. One of the finest off-road riders in the country at present, Santosh managed 36th place in Dakar 2015 and returned with a broken toe and a bleeding nose.
We hope that things fall in Santosh’s favour in the next edition of the challenging Dakar rally and he makes a veritable return, just as his previous outing in 2015.
