A leaked design patent has revealed more details about Hero’s upcoming sporty naked

A new design patent has given us a glimpse into what Hero’s next bike could look like, and it looks like a new 200cc model. What’s instantly evident is that the design looks like a beefier Xtreme 160R, perhaps something that could fill the void left by the erstwhile Xtreme 200R

The headlight unit and the shroud around it appear very similar to that seen on the Xtreme 160R. The shape of the fuel tank, side panels and seat also match quite closely, as do the ergonomics, with a flat, wide handlebar and slightly rearset footpegs. Where it differs is the wider, more encapsulating belly pan, and wider, sharper panels flanking the rear seat.

The engine's size and kick-starter design are quite similar to those of the XPulse 200 models, and the exhaust system design is very similar to that of the updated Xpulse 200T. If the same four-valve engine makes its way to this bike, you can expect output figures in the same 19PS and 17.35Nm ballpark, sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed gearbox.

These things said, Hero might even rely on a touch of nostalgia to increase the bike's appeal by giving it a memorable name, like the Hunk 200. Whatever name it receives, it will be supported by a single-downtube frame mounted on a telescopic fork, a monoshock, and a box-section swingarm . Expect disc brakes at both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels.

We expect Hero to price the bike around the Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. With that, Hero will have an offering to go up against the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
