Royal Enfield, the oldest production motorcycle manufacturer in the country earlier announced its plans of selling some exclusive limited edition Classic 500 bikes in a premium format. As per the schedule, the sales commenced on their official Royal Enfield online store and all 200 units allotted for India were sold out in mere 26 minutes only. Only 600 units of the bikes had been produced in total and they have been truly inspired from the Despatch riders of the World wars. The machines originally got their genes from the RE bikes that were used by these riders to deliver information between the battlefield and command post. Besides these epic bikes, the company also introduced its fascinating range of apparel and accessories, which could be ordered from over 50 international markets through their online store: http://store.royalenfield.com/.
Royal Enfield Classic Despatch Rider Limited Edition houses a 499cc, single cylinder, four-stroke engine that comes mated to a five-speed constant mesh transmission. The engine churns out net power of 27.2bhp along with the shattering torque of 41.3Nm. The bike gets a bunch of interesting features that make it a true limited edition machine indeed. The air filter box receives a premium leather strap. The engine and exhaust section comes coated in a matte black colour that looks ravishing. Besides this, the bikes have been painted in three impressive camouflaged colours viz. Desert Storm Despatch, Squadron Blue Despatch and Military Green Despatch, however, the latter wasn’t on sale in India being the official colour of the Indian army. The bikes have a special badge on their left side indicating their production number and have been fitted with an Italian leather solo saddle that retains the vintage feel.
Needless to say, this clearly shows the higher demand of RE street cruiser motorcycles, which would be beneficial for its upcoming bike lineup as well. Bringing up such products over a period of time helps the manufacturer understand the needs of its customers and market in a better and efficient way and cater its audience with even more refinement and perfection.
