The bike’s launch has been delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown in India
- It’s powered by the same BS6-compliant 220cc engine that’s seen on the Avenger Cruise.
- Power figures will remain unchanged aside from a small spike in its torque output.
- Expect a price hike of around Rs Rs 11,500 over the BS4 model.
Bajaj has confirmed that the BS6 Avenger Street 220 will be launched as soon as the COVID-19 lockdown is lifted. The bike’s already been updated to meet the strict emission norms and gets a fuel-injection system, an ECU and a larger cat-con. Expect these updates to push the price of the bike to around Rs 1,16,672, same as the Cruise 220. That’s around 11,500 more than its predecessor.
Bajaj has already revealed the specs of the Avenger Cruise which packs the same 220cc engine. However, it now puts out 19.03PS at 8500rpm and a bit more torque -- 17.55Nm (up by 0.05Nm) at 7000rpm. The 5-speed transmission will remain unchanged. That said, the additional equipment needed to meet the new emission guidelines means the bike is likely to gain some weight.

Hardware-wise, the Street 220 will remain unchanged. It’ll continue to use a telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup at the rear. The only change is a larger 280mm disc instead of the 260mm disc seen on the BS4 model. Single-channel ABS comes as standard.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 may not have a direct rival, but it goes up against the Suzuki Intruder 150 BS6 (Rs 1.20 lakh) in terms of price (all ex-showroom Delhi).
