The company has stopped the production of the BS4 model
After updating the Ninja 650 and the Z650 to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms, Kawasaki will be bringing the emission compliant Versys 650 between June and August this year. Production of the BS4-compliant Versys 650 has been stopped with only a limited number of units left at dealers across the country. Speaking to Kawasaki dealers, the new Versys 650 is likely to bear a price hike of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 from its BS4 counterpart.
It is likely to feature subtle updates over the new Versys 650. In terms of styling, the overall design may not be tweaked but the front end will receive new LED eyes with small winglets underneath, just like the Versys 1000. Even its semi-digital information cluster will be replaced by the new 4.3-inch colour-TFT screen that we have seen on the 2020 Z650 and the 2020 Z900.
A slight change in engine tune is in store for the Versys 650. The Z650 saw a small dip in torque but no change in power output was reported. The same is expected for the Versys 650.
Mechanically, there should be no changes in store. Suspension duties will be carried out by the same 41mm separate function USD fork with rebound and preload adjustability and a preload-adjustable monoshock unit. New rubber might just be in store for the Versys 650 with the Dunlop Sportmax D214s making way for stickier Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
