And it could finally get the one thing we always wanted
We’ve spotted another test mule of the 2023 KTM 390 Duke and managed to get a clear shot of the upcoming bike’s TFT instrument cluster. As mentioned earlier, the bike does have a very large console that could be a seven-inch unit. The majority of the screen is now taken up by the tachometer, which extends from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Additionally, KTM has positioned the gear position indicator right below the redline. The console is now a lot easier to comprehend, as opposed to the rather cluttered current one. While the console’s shots aren’t crystal clear, it’s likely that it’ll get turn-by-turn navigation, something that the older-gen bike missed out on.
While KTM was the first to introduce a colour TFT display in India with the 390 Duke in 2017, other manufacturers rolling out tech-loaded TFTs on their bikes (TVS Apache RR 310) makes the KTM’s unit feel a bit outdated. But things will change thanks to the new console. As for the bike’s design, it’s a whole lot sharper and more aggressive than the current Duke. While this was a camouflaged bike, you can head here to see the bike without any camo on.

The most exciting part, though, is obviously the bike’s heart. This one’s expected to be a larger (albeit still a single-cylinder) 399cc liquid-cooled one. While performance figures are likely to be in the same ballpark as the current one (43.5PS and 37Nm), we expect it to be more stress-free than before.
We think KTM could unveil the bike globally at EICMA 2023, which is scheduled from November 7-12 in Milan, Italy. An India-launch could be on the cards soon after that, towards the end of this year. As for its pricing, KTM could price it at roughly Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom), meaning a premium of nearly Rs 25,000. So, will the new bike be worth the wait and the extra money, or should you just go for the current 390 Duke? Here’s what we think.
