The 160cc bike will get small internal updates
An updated version of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has been spotted testing, and it looks like the changes are mostly internal.
As per our sources, the Hosur-based bikemaker is working on a revised intake. The current-generation Apache is already the most powerful bike in the 160cc segment with 17.55PS and 14.73Nm on tap - both in Sport mode. So instead of bumping up the power, TVS could make power delivery a bit more usable with the new intake setup. The current-gen model could do with a bit more low-end grunt, and we hope TVS addresses this in the new update. You can also spot the red-coloured engine head, same as the one in the current bike.
The oddly shaped exhaust is a prototype and the shape is likely to accommodate testing equipment. Expect the production-spec version’s exhaust to look similar to the current one, albeit with internal tweaks to go with the revised intake.

Other than the changes to the powertrain, the rest of the motorcycle looks identical to the outgoing model. Expect TVS to launch the bike in the coming months, and since this isn’t going to be a majorly updated bike, the price hike could be nominal. For perspective, the current-gen version costs Rs 1,21,628 for the base rear drum-brake equipped model, and goes up to Rs 1,27,825 for the Special Edition variant, both ex-showroom Delhi. It will go up against the Hero Xtreme 160R, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Honda XBlade, Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3.
