This concept is the brainchild of well-known digital artist Oberdan Bezzi
Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 gave the brand a new lease of life when they were launched back in 2018. These were Royal Enfield’s ticket into the big leagues and boy did they impress! The 650cc platform not only delivered in terms of performance but also refinement and build quality. In fact, the Interceptor 650 went on to become the brand's highest-selling model in the UK.
It was only a matter of time before the Chennai-based manufacturer branched out into different genres. The latest spy shots of the 650cc cruiser are a testament to this statement. The fact that Royal Enfield plans to introduce a new model every quarter means we’ll get to see more bikes based on the 650cc platform. So what could be next? Renowned digital artist Oberdan Bezzi seems to have an idea.
Oberdan’s newest rendition reimagines the Interceptor 650 as an old-school Enduro. According to Bezzi, there’s no shortage of scramblers in the market, but there’s plenty of scope for a retro enduro. This could very well work in Royal Enfield’s favour since it specialises in neo-retro motorcycles.
Giving customers the option to hit trails using the same proven 650cc platform could reel in better sales for the brand. As for the design itself, Bezzi’s idea of a retro Enduro hints at a restyled Interceptor 650 using a slim tank, raised fenders, spoked wheels paired with knobby tyres, and longer travel suspension.
Now we aren’t saying the Enduro is in the pipeline, but it could very well be a possibility in the future. There have been instances when manufacturers have considered certain concepts as possible directions for their future products. We hope and pray this one makes the cut.
