The production-bound bike looks eerily similar to its prototype cousin
Hero MotoCorp is working on a production-spec adventure bike based on its 450RR Dakar weapon. Since it is based on the competing prototype, a displacement figure of 450cc is expected, though it is also possible that Hero could bring down displacement to the 350cc range in order to keep costs down and help the bike compete with the likes of the BMW G 310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure. This should still be good for about 45PS of output, more than enough to make the orange bike worried.

The underpinnings are also quite similar to the Dakar bike, with a red trellis frame holding everything together, and loooong travel suspension at both ends. The upside-down fork legs seem to go on forever and the monoshock is mounted via a linkage. Comprehensive off-road hardware is completed with wire-spoke wheels at both ends in a 21-inch/17-inch size combo and wrapped in Continental TKC 80 off-road rubber.
The bike in the images is obviously destined for production, fitted with an ignition barrel, but it is still some time away from being showcased in its final form. Missing any body panels and even an exhaust system and gear shifter, there is obviously still some work left to be done before the bike hits showrooms. Expect prices in the range of Rs 2.5 lakh once launched.
