According to some reliable reports in the market recently, Indian automaker Hero is planning to bring its three new performance motorcycles in 2016. For past few months, the new launches in the small displacement segment by Hero have not been performing well. However, taking these failures in their stride, the company is now working on three new motorcycles at its new R&D center. After the discontinuation of Karizma, Hero is working hard to get a foothold in the competitive market. The three new products have been given secret names AABA, AANF and AAZA and the Indian giant is working with its Italian partner, Engines Engineering on these new products.
If rumours are to be believed, all the three new performance bikes will share the same platform. One of the three is said to be equipped with a 150-160cc engine and would be available in naked and muscular variants and the other bike is expected to be the Karizma’s replacement. Pitted against some of the best performers in the lineup, it became really difficult for Hero to even sell more than 10,000 units in the 150cc segment in a month. The competition is now even tougher as Hero’s lineup featuring models like Hunk, Xtreme, Xtreme sports and Impulse are not able to compete with competitions like Gixxer, Yamaha FZ V2.0 and Honda Unicorn 160 which were launched recently.
Talking about higher displacement models of the company, Hero is again on the losing end as Bajaj has taken over the sportbike market that are priced under Rs. 1 lac. It will be interesting to see if the company retains the same 223cc engine of Karizma or a new 200cc power pack will be developed. Hero has developed its new R&D center in Kukas near Jaipur, which got the tag of company’s biggest Research center. Also, after its opening on 14th January 2016, other R&D centers will also be shifting to this new premise. We are awaiting official confirmation on the new machines coming up and will update you soon as we find out more.
