Hero MotoCorp has developed a new R&D centre with an investment of Rs 450 crore, which will be inaugurated on 14th January 2016 at Kukas near Jaipur. The new facility will be called Hero Centre of Global Innovation and Research and Design.
The new R&D centre will have a team of 400 experienced engineers working on upcoming projects and the Gurgaon and Dharuhera centres will be shifted to this new facility located in the outskirts of Jaipur.
It seems that Hero MotoCorp has paid special attention to their R&D sector after parting ways from Honda in 2011. Till date, the company is using the technology of Honda based on the royalty agreement of both the company’s at the time of separation. This new centre is expected to show a significant progress in the Hero MotoCorp’s lineup in coming years.
Besides investing in R&D, Hero MotoCorp has roped in some well-known names of the industry like Markus Braunsperger, who will work as the company's new CTO (Chief Technology Officer). Markus is expected to bring new technology on board for the company as he has worked with BMW as a Chief Engineer. The company has also parted ways with America's Erik Buell Racing, as it faced bankruptcy.
The Indian automobile giant has plans to grow its market share from 42% to 50% in the country. Talking about the global market, Hero is making its presence felt in international markets like South America, US, and Europe and has aims to expand its production from 6.9 million to 7.65 million in the next year and then to 12 million in 2017.
