The Indian bikemaker could launch new electric motorcycles too
Just days after Hero MotoCorp announced that its first electric two-wheeler will debut by March 2022, we managed to get our hands on new trademark filings. The Indian two-wheeler giant has filed as many as six trademarks for ‘Vida’ which is likely to be a new subsidiary for Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming EV venture. All the six filings have been filed on 11 November and are in the preliminary stage
The trademarks have been filed for ‘Vida Motorcycles’, ‘Vida Scooters’, ‘Vida MotoCorp’, ‘Vida Mobility’, ‘Vida EV’ and ‘Vida Electric’, hinting that the brand is mulling options. The new sub-brand will be dedicated purely to electric two-wheelers set to be manufactured at the brand’s upcoming plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

Hero's First Electric Scooter - What To Expect?
The Indian bikemaker’s new venture could benefit from its investment in Ather Energy as well as partnership with Taiwanese brand Gogoro Electric, known for its battery-swapping technology. Hero MotoCorp isn’t the first company to start its electric mobility under a new brand. Recently, TVS also announced its plan of starting a new subsidiary for its EV business. Interestingly, Honda too would be joining the bandwagon by March 2022.
The electric two-wheeler segment is gradually but surely picking up pace in India. Soon, Ather Energy and Ola Electric will face the heat from Suzuki’s upcoming Burgman Electric and Hero’s new e-scooter.
