Hero Passion Xtec: Five Key Highlights

Hero has been making its commuter line up much smarter, and the iconic Passion is the latest entrant into this list. Five weeks after Hero launched the Splendor Plus Xtec, the company followed suit by launching the Xtec variant of the Passion, loading it with several new features. Here are five things you need to know about the smartest version of the 21-year old commuter bike.

1) Features

The Xtec variant of every Hero offering boasts of several smart updates, and the Passion Xtec is no exception. This bike gets an all-digital display with Bluetooth connectivity that provides incoming and missed call alerts, message alerts, service reminder, real time mileage indicator, side stand alert and low fuel indicator. The display also shows an incoming caller’s name, along with phone battery percentage. It also features an integrated USB charging port.

2) Design

While the Passion Xtec retains the same commuter-friendly design as the standard model, it showcases small subtle updates that give it a distinctive personality. It gets a segment-first projector LED headlight with a unique H-shaped integrated LED DRL. More new bits include chromed 3D branding on the tank and rim tapes, adding a premium touch to the commuter.

3) Engine

This new iteration retains the same 110cc single cylinder engine producing 9.12PS and 9.79Nm, mated to a four-speed gearbox. It also keeps the i3S (Idle Stop Start) system to aid fuel efficiency. However, the Passion Xtec gets a side stand engine cutoff to enhance safety.

4) Underpinnings

The Passion Xtec is available in two trims. The disc brake variant gets a 240mm front disc brake coupled with a 130mm rear drum brake, while the drum variant is equipped with 130mm drum brakes at both ends. To enhance safety, both variants get CBS (combined braking system). The bike carries the same telescopic and twin-shock suspension as the standard model.

5) Price

Hero Passion Xtec: Five Key Highlights

The drum brake variant of the Passion Xtec is priced at Rs 74,590, while the disc brake variant is priced at Rs 78,990 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 3,770 and Rs 5,170 more expensive than the self-start drum and disc variants respectively. It rivals the Bajaj Platina 110, Honda Livo and TVS Star City Plus
