India’s most popular commuter motorcycle is now cleaner, greener and dearer by Rs 6,800
- The Hero Splendor Plus BS6 features a fuel-injected 100cc motor.
- It makes 0.35PS less than the BS4-compliant Splendor Plus.
- However, the peak torque output has remained unchanged.
Hero MotoCorp has finally updated India’s most popular commuter motorcycle, the Splendor Plus, to comply with BS6 emission norms. The Hero Splendor Plus BS6’s ex-showroom Delhi pricing for all variants are as follows:
Hero MotoCorp has equipped the motorcycle with a fuel-injected air-cooled 100cc motor. It churns out 8.01PS at 8000rpm and 8.05Nm at 6000rpm. Comparatively, the Hero Splendor Plus BS4 makes 0.35PS more at the same rpm. On the other hand, the peak torque has remained the same but it now arrives 1000rpm later. While the kerb weight of the bike hasn’t been revealed yet, expect it to be slightly heavier on account of the fuel injection and other emission controlling equipment in the exhaust system.
Hero has retained the BS4 bike’s underpinnings including the telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, 130mm drum brakes on both ends (with CBS). Hero offers the motorcycle in five colours. In terms of rivals, the Hero Splendor Plus BS6 competes against the Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 and the TVS Star City Plus BS6.
