Gets a whole range of updates to make it smarter

There’s a new connected ‘Xtec’ variant of the Hero Super Splendor that's making its way into showrooms across the country. With the manufacturer expanding its Xtec range, it was only time that the Super Splendor too got this treatment.

While the Super Splendor Xtec has not been officially rolled out in India yet, the company did tease the arrival of something ‘Super’ last week on its social media channels. An official announcement regarding this development will take place today.

The Xtec variant of the Super Splendor gets a new LED headlight along with an LED DRL that is positioned horizontally within the headlight unit. The design of the front cowl and visor too look to be slightly revised.

As part of the Xtec treatment, the Super Splendor now gets a digital LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity that provides phone battery level status and incoming/missed calls and SMS alerts. This console also shows information like side stand indication, real-time mileage and fuel level. To top it all off, a USB charging port is also provided under the instrument console.

To help distinguish the Xtec variant from the other variants, Hero has kitted the bike with revised graphics along with a new colour. There may be additional colours, details of which we will get to know once the bike is launched.

While the mechanicals of the Super Splendor Xtec are expected to remain the same as the other variants, we expect Hero to update the Super Splendor range to be compliant with OBD 2 emission norms. These new norms will require vehicles to comply with preset emission levels in real time and not just in laboratory conditions, and hence the vehicles will be fitted with the second-generation of the Onboard Diagnostic Device.

With the Super Splendor getting more tech savvy after the Xtec treatment, expect it to be better equipped to rival the likes of the Honda Shine and Bajaj CT 125X. This Xtec variant will command a slight premium over its other variants. For perspective, the base variant of the Super Splendor is currently priced at Rs 78,118, and the top variant gets a price tag of Rs 83,248 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
