Hero is likely to launch a faired iteration of the Xtreme 200R as well
[Update: Hero MotoCorp has launched the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 200S. Head here for the launch story]
- XPulse 200 is the off-road-friendly variant with spoke wheels, dual-purpose tyres and long-travel suspension.
- XPulse 200T is a road-biased version, with alloy wheels and street-friendly tyres.
- XPulse 200 will be the most affordable ADV in India.
Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T in India tomorrow and unofficial for both are now underway. What’s more is that the Indian bikemaker might also launch a faired iteration of the Xtreme 200R, which was recently spied in India.
The Hero XPulse 200 is essentially an off-road friendly ADV and comes with a larger 21-inch front spoke wheel and a smaller 18-inch rear unit. The wheels are shod with dual-purpose Ceat Gripp tyres for better traction on challenging terrain. It also features long-travel front forks and rear monoshock for better off-road dynamics. Its ground clearance should also be plentiful. Other notable additions include a pair of hand guards, aluminium bash plate for better protection, high-mounted exhaust for better water-wading capability and raised fenders.
On the other hand, the XPulse 200T features 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends wrapped with road-biased tyres. The suspension travel for this motorcycle is likely to be lesser than the one in the off-road variant.
The two motorcycles are powered by the Xtreme 200R-derived air-cooled engine. It makes 18.7PS of power and 17.1Nm of torque and works alongside a 5-speed gearbox. Both the bikes come with a fully-digital instrument cluster that can be paired with your smartphone via Bluetooth. Brakes include discs on both ends, presumably with a single-channel ABS. The XPulse twins are likely to cost between Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When launched, the XPulse 200 will be the most affordable ADV in the country, undercutting the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The faired iteration, based on the Xtreme 200R, could be called the Karizma 200. It was recently spied, revealing its fully-faired bodywork and a wide, single-piece handlebar. By the looks of it, this upcoming bike will be more of a sports tourer than a track tamer. If we’re being optimistic, its engine will have a sportier state of tune compared to the Xtreme 200R’s. It is likely to command a price tag of about Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) and will go up against the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V range.
