The bike is likely to make use of Hero XPulse’s 200cc engine
After sightings of the updated Xtreme 160R and new Karizma XMR 210, another naked bike was spotted testing, likely the Xtreme 200R. Contrary to online reports, we believe this is the 200cc streetfighter and not the 160cc one considering it gets a more premium inverted fork. That said, this is in contrast to the telescopic fork spotted in the design patent surfaced earlier. The possibility of Hero offering the bike in two variants cannot be ruled out.
The upcoming 200cc bike will be based on the same platform as the XPulse 200, and takes design inspiration from its younger sibling. It gets the same aggressive styling, with sharp fuel tank extensions like the Xtreme 160R, and borrows the same LED taillight unit and tail section as well.
What’s different and most important is that the streetfighter will come suspended on a premium USD fork, which should ideally result in a better riding experience. The rear seems to employ a monoshock.

In terms of powertrain, the test mule features a horizontally mounted oil cooler, indicating that Xtreme 200R could be powered by the same 199.6cc single-cylinder air-/oil-cooled engine from the XPulse twins. It produces 19.1PS and 17.35Nm on the Xpulse, however, a slightly sportier tune can be expected on the naked.
Where features are concerned, expect Hero to bless the streetfighter with a fully digital console with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Similar to the one found on the XPulse twins.
If Hero ends up offering the upcoming streetfighter in two variants, it would make sense for the brand to offer a single-channel ABS in the one with the telescopic fork, and dual-channel unit in the one with the inverted unit. This will help the bikemaker to price it even more aggressively.
Lastly, the test mule looks quite production-ready and could break cover officially sometime earlier next year. It could be priced at around Rs 1.4 lakh and will rival the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
