Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) today unveiled a new 150cc premium bike, Honda CB Trigger. Earlier, there were rumors that Honda is about to launch a naked version of Honda CBR150R, which is known as Honda CB150R StreetFire internationally, and India saw much confusions about the exact specifications of the bike to be launched here. SO now that the bike has been unveiled, we know it wasn't StreetFire but Dazzler upgradation. Honda CB Trigger is more like an upgraded version of Honda Unicorn Dazzler, which is not doing good in terms of sales. So, with this new 150cc bike, Honda eyes a big pie in the country's 150cc bike segment, which holds a good 10% of the Indian motorcycle market. Honda is doing significantly well in the market, where their share is also increasing. With the launch of the current bike, the company is expecting added strength to their portfolio, and thus inviting more consumers. Honda CB Trigger's tag line ‘Untame Yourself’, says a lot about the bike and its target group, which is to be youngsters of age 18-24.
Speaking on the ocassion, Keta Moramatsu, President and CEO, HMSI, said, “The new CB Trigger is Honda’s fourth product launch starting January 2013. Honda is further strengthened its portfolio in 150cc segment with the CB Trigger which is targeted at the youth. Going ahead throughout this year as we aim for leadership position in India.” Honda CB Trigger holds some unique features like Combi Brake System (CBS), which is a first in the segment. The new CBS braking mechanism will reduce stopping distance by 32 percent and will provide precise braking. The bike gets its power from a 150cc, air-cooled, spark-ignition, 4-stroke engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, which produces a maximum power output of 14bhp at 8500rpm and 12.5Nm of torque at 6500rpm. The most exciting factor about the bike is its mileage of 60kmpl. To make it compete against the biggies like the Pulsar family, Yamaha FZ and other Honda blessed the CB Trigger with all new age equipment and features including upright sitting position, fully digital instrument cluster, wide seat, black alloy wheels, kick start, full gear lever, full chain case, diamond frame, monoshock rear suspension, 240 mm front disc brake, 220 mm rear disc brake, tubeless tyres, LED tail light, viscous air filter and maintenance free battery.
Though Honda CB Trigger has been unveiled but the bike will only be available from May 2013, while the bookings will open next month. The bike will be available in three variants: CB Trigger Standard with front disc brake, CB Trigger Deluxe with front and rear disc brake, CB Trigger CBS with front and rear disc brake and Combi Brake System.
