Honda has finally launched the all new 2013 Honda CBR600RR globally; however, the bike hasn't been launched in India. The bike was updated in 2009, since it hasn't recieved a single update, but this time Honda give it a comprehensive uplift. The Honda CBR600RR has consecutive Supersport World Championship title from 2002 to 2008, making it one of the most successful middleweight bikes on the race track. The 2013 Honda CBR600RR gets new front suspension, wheels, Combined ABS (C-ABS) with a complete cosmetic makeover that makes it look closer to other Honda bikes of the league. The bike has been offered in two different variants, Honda CBR600RR and CBR600RRA. The bike gets new designing and body work with stylish graphics including Repsol Honda's Moto GP theme.
The bike runs on a 599cc, Liquid-Cooled, Inline Four-Cylinder engine mated to a Close-Ratio Six-Speed manual transmission, which transfers power to the rear wheels through a O-Ring-Sealed Chain. The bike features a redesigned, centrally located ram-air intake system and improved ECU and PGM-DSFI setting, helping it deliver more power in the midrange and enhanced throttle response in the high-rpm range. The revised suspension gets even better with new 41mm Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF), which features a larger damper piston that generates damping forces at lower internal pressures to allow for smoother, more responsive fork action. Adjustable for spring preload plus compression and rebound damping adjustability. Unit Pro-Link® rear suspension features a revised shock with new damper settings for improved overall performance.
Using knowledge gained from the Honda RC212V MotoGP race program, aerodynamic improvements were made to this newest CBR600RR, which shows a 6.5 percent decrease in drag over the previous model. The development and testing used with this all-new CBR600RR bodywork, in turn, led to aerodynamic advancements that have been incorporated into the current RC213V MotoGP racing machine. This newly found aerodynamic efficiency lends itself more agile handling and improved wind deflection for enhanced rider comfort.
“The 2013 Honda CBR600RR, building on the platform of the previous model, has taken its performance to a new level. It delivers an awesome ride on the circuit, but is even easier than before to ride on city streets. It sounds contradictory, but the natural fusion of these two aspects of the bike’s character is what makes this model even more attractive than its predecessor,” says Hirofumi Fukunaga, the CBR600RR’s Large Development Project Leader.
