The petite moped packs immense off-road capability
Back in June 2020, after its launch in Japan, the Honda CT125 moped was patented in India. Now, it has received a new colour: Safari Green. Honda Thailand is the first market to receive this colour for the CT125.
Apart from the new paint, Honda has taken the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach for the design and mechanicals. The CT125 packs the same air-cooled 124cc engine that makes 8.8PS and 11Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed transmission. The CT125 gets a 5.3-litre fuel tank and returns an impressive mileage of 67.2kmpl.
On the feature front, Honda has equipped the moped with LED lights and a fully digital instrument cluster. Suspension duties are handled by a gaitered telescopic front fork and twin rear shocks. Braking is via disc brakes on both ends with a single-channel ABS.
It’s priced at 400,000 Yen (excluding taxes). This roughly converts to Rs 2.64 lakh which is quite expensive for an average budget-conscious Indian customer. So, it’s highly unlikely to launch here unless Honda India decides to manufacture it locally.
But, we do have our home-bred moped in the form of the TVS XL100 BS6. So, if you want to see how the two mopeds stack up in pictures, head here.
