We compare the two 300cc bobbers via a set of detailed images
Hyosung has unveiled the GV300S in Europe. The 300cc bobber will take on Honda's 300cc bobber, the Rebel 300. On paper, both motorcycles offer excellent performance with similar underpinnings. Let’s compare the two 300cc bobbers via detailed images.
Design and features:
Both motorcycles get similar lines and all-black treatment. The Honda Rebel 300 has a more modern neo-retro look while the Hyosung GV300S sports a more traditional bobber look.
While the Rebel 300 gets all-LED lighting, the GV300S features a bulb-type headlamp and turn indicators. Both come with a traditional-looking round headlamp and round turn indicators.
The Honda Rebel 300 gets a full-digital instrument console while the Hyosung GV300S makes do with a semi-digital instrument console. The Honda also features a gear position indicator but misses out on a tachometer and temperature gauge -- both of which are present on the Hyosung.
Powertrain:
The Honda Rebel 300 is powered by a 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that delivers 30.4PS and 27.4 Nm. In comparison, the Hyosung GV300S has a 296cc liquid-cooled V-twin motor that makes 30PS and 25.6Nm. Both motorcycles get a 6-speed gearbox.
Underpinnings:
The Rebel 300 gets 41mm telescopic forks with dual-shock absorbers while the GV300S gets 35mm telescopic forks with dual-shock absorbers. Both bikes use fat front-section tyres. The Rebel gets 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear tyres whereas the GV300S gets 120/80-16 front and 150/80-15 rear tyres. For braking, both motorcycles feature disc brakes at either end.
Pricing:
The Honda Rebel 300 costs EUR 4,101 (approx 3.31 lakh) in Europe and the Hyosung GV300S retails at EUR 4,990 (approx Rs 4.07 lakh). While the Honda offers better performance, features and value, the Hyosung ensures a more thrilling experience owing to its V-twin motor. The Rebel 300 is expected to debut in India this year, but it remains to be seen whether Hyosung will get the GV300S here when it restarts India operations.
