The SH350i is one of Honda’s best selling scooters, having sold over a million units in the past 36 years. So, it’s an important product for Honda to say the least. In a bid to raise the bar, Honda has now updated the scooter with a bigger, Euro 5-compliant engine, new looks as well as better features. It’s available in four new colours: red, silver, white and black.
The smaller 279cc motor from the outgoing model has been swapped out for a new 330cc, liquid-cooled single -- the same unit that powers the 2021 Forza 350. It’s been tuned to dish out 29.36PS at 7500rpm and 32Nm at 5250rpm. Honda says the new motor offers better top speed and improved acceleration. You even get Honda’s ‘HSTC’ (Honda Selectable Torque Control) system which is lingo for traction control.
Apart from styling updates which make the scooter look a lot sleeker, the 2021 SH350i features a new LED lights, a revised LCD display, USB Type-C charging socket, and Honda's Smart Key. Not to mention, the scooter gets an emergency stop signal system as well which flashes the rear indicators during emergency braking.
Besides, customers have the option to choose from a number of accessories including a tall windscreen, handguards, heated grips, a 35-litre Smart top box, and a rear carrier kit.
Honda has even reworked the scooter's steel underbone frame for better stability. In doing so, it has managed to shave 1kg of weight. The SH350i weighs in at 174kg (kerb). Its hardware consists of a 35mm telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup at the rear. Braking is via 256mm single discs at the front and rear paired with dual-channel ABS.
Don’t get too excited though as Honda won’t be bringing in the 2021 SH350i to India.
