The e-scooter has been updated with a new lithium ion battery pack that promises double the range

- Its current battery pack offers a range of 45km per charge.
- The scooter is meant for urban buyers.
The Honda V-GO, a compact little electric scooter which was first showcased at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show, has received an updated battery pack for 2020. The scooter was designed and developed for urban buyers and hence delivers a range of 45km per charge. The updated lithium ion battery promises to offer double the range, which means customers could expect up to 90km on a single charge. That’s more than enough for your daily commutes.
However, the higher capacity battery pack does come at a price. It's CNY 2,699 (around Rs 29,154) over and above the price of the scooter which retails at 7,988 (Rs 86,285). That said, as part of the scooter's first anniversary celebrations, Honda will offer the new battery for half the price -- CNY 1,350 (Rs 14,582). Expect the offer to run for a limited time period.
The Honda V-Go may be small, but it packs a ton of features compared to scooters much higher than its pay grade. It comes equipped with LED lights all around, USB charger in the front pocket, a fully-digital instrument cluster, smart key and a dedicated mobile app. Its compact and lightweight design means the scooter weighs in at just 65kg kerb and has a ground clearance of 132mm.
In terms of underpinnings, the scooter uses a telescopic fork and a monoshock at the rear. Its braking setup comprises a disc up front and a drum unit at the rear.
The Honda V-GO is highly unlikely to come to India. The small urban scooter's premium cost won't settle well in a price-sensitive market like India. That said, the premium electric scooter space has been gaining some momentum with mainstream manufacturers like Bajaj and TVS entering the market with the Chetak and iQube. The Ather 450X is yet another example. Honda could possibly consider tapping into the electric market with scooters like the V-GO, but there's no concrete information on this yet. Guess we'll just have to wait and hope for the best.
