Husqvarna has unveiled the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 in India. Both motorcycles are lifestyle alternatives to the current crop of 250cc motorcycles. Husqvarna will launch both motorcycles by February-March next year, both are likely to be priced at a premium over the KTM 250 Duke.
Husqvarna motorcycles use KTM powertrain, frame and suspension components and offer a more aesthetically pleasing package. It’s the same with the Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250. Both share their powertrain and underpinnings with the KTM 250 Duke. However, both bikes get more premium looking bodywork and features such LED headlamps, tail lamps, all-LED lighting, as well as a circular full digital instrument console.
Powering the motorcycles is a KTM-sourced 248.8cc liquid cooled single cylinder motor that delivers 31PS and 24Nm. The power outputs are the same as that of the 250 Duke and even the gear ratios in the six-speed gearbox are identical.
Both motorcycles get a trellis frame with WP suspension setup in the form of upside down forks and monoshock. The motorcycles get 17-inch alloy wheels with a design different from that of the 250 Duke. They also get locally sourced MRF Revz tyres. Braking is via a front disc with radially mounted ByBre calipers and a rear disc along with dual-channel ABS.
The Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 will be manufactured by Bajaj at its Chakan facility and sold via co-branded KTM Husqvarna dealerships.
