BMW is all set to extend its rather successful GS series with the revamped version of the popular Adventure model, i.e. BMW F 650GS. And the effort to offer something even better than 650GS pays off really well in the form of F 700GS, which utilises the characteristic strengths of the GS rather lavishly. The only thing keeping the bike away from Indian shores is the government's approval. This updated version of the motorbike is meant for those who do not really need a bike with top notch off-road skills. And although it is a part of the GS family, it actually focuses on urban mobility with features like twin front disc brakes, ABS, and updates dial faces. It comes with sharper styling, revised tank cowls, and a better wind protection visor. Moving on to the technical specifications, this one is powered by the same engine as the one that backed the F 650GS.
And though it sports the same 798cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled unit, it has an increased power output of 75bhp. It also packs an advanced six-speed gearbox. The chassis of this new GS product features a sturdy tubular steel frame that integrates the engine as a load-bearing element. Though the standard version includes ABS, features like electronic suspension adjustment, traction control via automatic stability control, and a comfort package, that includes an on-board computer, heated grips, case holder and centerstand, are optional. Other upgrades include a more powerful front brake and tinted turn-signal indicators.
It is really these new features that lend an aggressive look to this BMW offering. And with a tall suspension and an upright riding position, the bike is absolutely fit for the pothole infested Indian roads. This successor of BMW F 650GS will be offered in three colours, namely, Red apple metallic, Ostra grey metallic matt and Glacier silver metallic.
