John Abraham has lost the civil suit filed by the Bajaj Auto against the use of their tag line 'Hamara Bajaj' for an upcoming film to be produced by JA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
The judgment has been passed on 21st September 2013 by the Bombay High Court that JA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. can not use 'Hamara Bajaj' in any movie, in any manner. And 'Hamara Bajaj' belongs to the Bajaj Auto and will remain with them.
'Hamara Bajaj' was the tag-line of the very first motion advertisement of Bajaj Auto on DD National in 1989, featuring the Bajaj scooters. In 2001, a revised version of the ad was released using the same tag line, showcasing all the Bajaj scooters and motorcycles.
Bollywood actor and producer, John Abraham wanted to use the tag line as the name of his producing movie directed by Shoojit Sircar with Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam in the lead role. On the announcement of the film's name, Bajaj Auto registered the case of infringement of their trademark on the production house.
