The BS6-compliant sports tourer comes in a new shade of green as well
Kawasaki India has hiked the price of the BS6-compliant Ninja 1000SX by Rs 10,000. The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX was launched on May 29 this year at Rs 10,79,000. Now, though, it retails at Rs 10,89,000 (ex-showroom India). In addition to the price hike, Kawasaki has also introduced a new shade called Emerald Blazed Green. Compared to the older green colour scheme (green, grey and black combo), this one gets different graphics and the black shade is more predominant than the green.
Kawasaki has also mentioned that the older green colour variant will be available only at select authorised dealerships. Expect the new green shade to replace the older one soon. Other than the colour schemes, the rest of the bike is unchanged. When the bike was launched, it was Rs 50,000 more than the BS4-compliant version. The motorcycle comes with a TFT smartphone-compatible instrument cluster, all-LED lighting lighting system, ride-by-wire with electronic cruise control, three-mode traction control, two power modes, four riding modes and cornering ABS.
The 1,043cc inline-four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine churns out 142PS at 10,000rpm and 111Nm at 8000rpm. It is linked to a 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. With a generous 19-litre fuel tank and sporty yet comfortable ergonomics this motorcycle can munch miles effortlessly.
There are no natural rivals to the Ninja 1000 here in India at the moment, but the upcoming Euro 5/ BS6-compliant Ducati SuperSport comes pretty close.
