A motorcycle that is very close to the WSBK bike and limited to just 500 units worldwide
India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) has launched the limited edition Ninja ZX-10RR with a price tag of Rs 21.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As the extra R suggests, it is a more race specific version of the existing ZX-10R model and also, more exclusive as its production is limited to just 500 units worldwide. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R has been a remarkable motorcycle in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) with Tom Sykes winning the title in 2013, followed by Jonathan Rea taking the honor in 2015 and 2016. The Japanese manufacturer says that the new ZX-10RR is very close to the bike that is used in the WSBK championship and has been specially made for the track days.
There is a significant increment in the price of the bike as compared to the standard ZX-10R; not just because of the limited number of units to be produced though. The Ninja ZX-10RR is a more performance oriented version with lots of race components in the engine, such as carbon-coated tappets and a stronger crankcase. Cylinder heads have been tweaked to incorporate the new race-spec, high-lift camshafts. With all these upgrades, the 998cc, four-cylinder motor produces 210PS of power using the ram air induction and delivers a peak torque of 113Nm at 11,500rpm. The company has also introduced a special race kit for even better performance, but sadly, it is not available in India yet.
The motor continues with the same cassette type, close-ratio transmission. However, the ZX-10RR gets updated Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) that allows clutchless downshift. The bike runs on new seven-spoke forged Marchesini aluminium wheels and also receives new Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres. Brembo front discs come with high specification M50 aluminium monoblock four-piston calipers and there are inputs from the KRT (Kawasaki Racing Team) in some the other cycle parts as well. Talking about the electronic package, it features a Bosch Inertial Management Unit (IMU) and also gets a five-stage traction control along with a three-stage launch control.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR has been homologated as a single-seater motorcycle and there are no rear foot pegs on the bike. It comes with a more aerodynamic styling with a rear seat cowl and is exclusively available in only matte black colour option for just a few lucky enthusiasts.
