Kawasaki Versys 650 and KLX110 Launched in India at Rs 6.60 lac and Rs 2.65 lac Respectively

Kawasaki Versys 650 and KLX110 have been launched in India at Rs 6.60 lac and Rs 2.65 lac respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The much-awaited middleweight touring motorcycle Versys 650 is inspired from its elder sibling Versys 1000, which is already being sold in the Indian market. Kawasaki has also launched an off-road motorcycle KLX110 and its body design resembles the flagship model “motocross KX450”.
Versys 650 is powered by a 649cc, 4-stroke, liquid cooled, parallel twin engine that comes paired to a 6-speed transmission. The engine churns out a peak power of 68.05bhp at 8,500rpm with a maximum torque of 64Nm at 7,500rpm. The same engine is used to propel Ninja 650 and ER-6n. While Kawasaki KLX110 is equipped with an 112cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, carbureted, single-cylinder engine that comes mated to a 4-speed transmission and generates a maximum power of 7.2bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 8Nm at 4,500rpm.
Coming to the design, the new Kawasaki Versys 650 has a similar visual appearance as Versys 1000 and gets dual headlamps, adjustable front widescreen and LED taillights. In order to provide comfort and convenience, it is offered with an adjustable handlebar and wider seats for long journeys. It also features an ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), unlike Ninja 650 and ER-6n. It progress on tubeless tyres of 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) at the front and 160/60ZR17M/C (69W) at the rear. Versys 650 is equipped with an upside down telescopic suspensions at the front and offset laydown mono shock with remote preload adjustable spring at the rear. The bike is equipped with twin 300mm disc brakes at the front and a single 250mm disc rotor at the rear. The bike has a ground clearance of 170mm with a fuel tank of 21-liters of capacity. The bike locks its horns with Benelli TNT 600 GT. In India, the Versys will be imported as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units from Thailand and will be assembled by India Kawasaki Motors.
Kawasaki KLX110 is offered with 30mm telescopic fork and a mono shock at the rear. The bike has a ground clearance of 215mm with 3.8 liters of fuel tank capacity. It houses both electric and kick start functionality. The bike is equipped with a 90mm drum brakes at both the ends. This Japanese small engine capacity off-roader will be imported as Completely Built Unit (CBU) directly from Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. YoshItaka Tamura, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors said, “With this engine, with this chassis, I'm sure these models are excellent offer to the market in India". He further added, "There are some other models coming with same mission as those two. I'm sure they can also bring another level of fun and excitement to this market".
