The classic motorcycle stays classy with new colours and old mechanicals

Kawasaki has updated the W175 retro-styled motorcycle in the Indonesian markets with new colours for the SE, TR SE and Cafe variants. Interestingly, the bike remains unchanged from its predecessor.

In terms of appearance, the W175 SE retains the same retro-themed styling with a clean and simple design similar to that of the Yamaha RX100. What’s new is that the retro bike comes in three fresh new paint schemes; Metallic Resplendent Silver, Metallic Matte Covert Green and Ebony/Black Style. The cafe variant gets a chequered flag stripe on the sides of the fuel tank and a small cowl above the headlight, that gives the bike a sportier appeal and available in new grey and white colour schemes. The W175TR SE, too, retains the same classy design with the scrambler appeal (raised mudguards) and gets dipped in the flagship Kawaski green colour scheme. Both bikes get the same circular headlight, single seat and retro styling elements.

Powering the W175s is the same 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is good for 13PS on both the bikes, however, the W175 SE and Cafe produce 13.2Nm, whereas the TR SE produces 13.6Nm. The power and torque outputs on both variants are the same as the previous model.

Both the variants are suspended on a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorber with preload adjustability at the rear. Anchoring the bikes is a disc up front and drum at the rear.

While the W175 SE is priced at an equivalent of Rs 1.79 lakh, the W175TR SE variant is priced at an equivalent Rs 1.76 lakh (without Indian taxes and duties) and the Cafe variant is Rs 1.87 lakh, which is slightly high for a 170cc bike. The Kawasaki W175 was spotted testing in India in November 2020, and an India launch for the same cannot be ruled out. That said it will still be priced at a premium range, likely at Rs 1.75 lakh.
