Other than the updated engine, the Z650 features Kawasaki naked’s Sugomi styling philosophy
- Gets a LED headlight and a 4.3-inch colour-TFT screen.
- Features grippier tyres.
- Makes the same power as before with a small dip in torque.
Kawasaki has launched the BS6 Z650 in India at Rs 5,94,000 ex-showroom. That’s a premium of Rs 25,000 over the BS4 model. But, the extra dough gets you Kawasaki naked’s Sugomi styling philosophy, a new LED headlight, and a 4.3-inch colour-TFT screen. The TFT console even features smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s dedicated Rideology app. The bike is available in a single metallic black livery.
It’s powered by a BS6-compliant 649cc parallel-twin engine that puts out 68PS of peak power (same as before). However, the bike’s torque output has slipped from 65.7Nm at 6500rpm to 64Nm at 6700rpm. It retains the same 6-speed transmission but misses out on a slipper clutch.
Additional changes come in the form of grippier Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres instead of the old Sportmax D214s. All this while weighing just 1kg more than before. Its hardware includes a steel trellis frame with an upside fork and a monoshock. The bike is anchored by a pair of twin 300 petal discs up front and a single 200mm petal disc at the rear.
In terms of rivals, the BS6 Kawasaki Z650 competes against the next-generation Benelli TNT 600i and the CFMoto 650NK. Customers can book the new Z650 at their nearest Kawasaki dealership or drop booking enquiries on Kawasaki's website.
