KTM India has confirmed that the much anticipated 390 Adventure is slated for launch next year. With the introduction of the KTM 390 Adventure in 2019, we can expect the rest of KTM's Adventure range of motorcycles to follow suit to Indian shores soon.
Similar to the KTM 390 Duke, the Adventure variant too will draw inspiration from its elder siblings, the 790 Adventure and KTM's flagship model, the 1290 Super Adventure. The 390 Adventure will be more off-road focused just like the 790 Adventure and may feature both variants - spoked rims with off-road-oriented tyres, and alloy wheels with road biased tyres. Staying true to its adventure purpose, an all-new chassis with long travel suspension setup should also follow through.
According to KTM, its Adventure range will be positioned in the country alongside the streetfighter Dukes and supersport RC lineup. If KTM plans to introduce the 390 Adventure in 2019, we can expect the bike to be showcased at this year's EICMA, the bikes-only trade show held in Milan, Italy, around the end of every year.
Taking into consideration the price of the 390 Duke (Rs 2.69 lakh on road, Delhi) and the kind of equipment the 390 Adventure will boast of, the adventure tourer should be priced between Rs 3.25-3.50 lakh on-road (ballpark figure). Once launched, the 390 Adventure will compete with the BMW G 310 GS and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 in the country. Here’s the official statement from the company:

Commenting on the upcoming launch Amit Nandi - President (Probiking), Bajaj Auto Ltd. said “KTM is a niche brand for a select few. With the 390 Adventure, we would be making our long awaited entry into the niche premium dual-sport segment which is a very apt segment for Indian roads”
