The Scalpel has found its first home in India, with a Bollywood actor no less

After its launch last month, the first KTM 790 Duke has now been delivered to a customer. And quite a special customer, at that. KTM Andheri East in Mumbai has delivered the first 790 Duke in the country to Bollywood actor Dino Morea. That leaves 99 motorcycles from the first batch yet to be delivered, after which we expect KTM to bring in the BS6-compliant 790 Dukes, accompanied by a price hike.

Presently, the 790 Duke is only available in 9 cities across India at an introductory price of Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, KTM has confirmed that the bike will soon be available in more than 30 cities across the country. Hopeful buyers can also check out the official accessories list for the bike here.

The 790 Duke is powered by KTM’s new 799cc LC8c engine. This is the company’s first ever parallel-twin motor and it produces 105PS and 87Nm. The Mattighofen manufacturer has also equipped its India flagship with a best-in-class electronics package that includes 4 riding modes, 8 levels of lean-sensitive traction control, engine braking control, launch control, wheelie control, cornering ABS and a bi-directional quickshifter.

The Scalpel faces some stiff competition from bikes like the significantly cheaper Kawasaki Z900 and Suzuki GSX-S750 as well as the more expensive Triumph Street Triple S and RS.
