Bajaj Auto, the leading bike manufacturer has announced the second consecutive hike in KTM Duke 200 price. The company has increased its price from Rs. 1.17 lakh to Rs. 1.29 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), earlier company increased its price by Rs. 3500. The price hike is around 5%, which is most probably due to Rupee depreciation. It is the first bike from Austrian bike manufacturer KTM in the country and Bajaj is responsible for its assembling, sales and servicing. Even after a 5% price hike the KTM Duke 200 has a very reasonable price as compare to its competitors. It is still Rs. 30000 cheaper than its closest competitor Honda CBR 250. However the other closest competitor, Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS is way cheaper than others including the Duke 200.
The reason behind the competitive pricing of Pulsar 200 NS is that the bikes are completely built in the country with no technology imported from outside. But the KTM Duke 200, which has gained wide popularity in the country, has been coming as CKD and assembled at Bajaj Auto's Chakan unit.
Moreover, Bajaj is also planning to launch a new bike of KTM Duke series; The Duke 375, which is expected to be launched sometime around 2013 at around Rs. 2 lakh. And yes there will also be a Pulsar series bike of the same capacity. So get ready for the upcoming Pulsar 375 and Duke 375.
Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
